Robin Kurss' Seasoned Chef Recipe

English Trifle

Ingredients:
*1 sponge cake
*Sherry or any liquor you like
*2 cups each, sliced strawberries, sliced bananas, raspberries and sliced peaches-
you can use whatever fruit you like or something different
*2 cups vanilla custard or vanilla pudding
*2 cups heavy cream, whipped
*2 cups raspberry jam-or any flavor you like
 
Recipe:
1. Place 1 layer of sponge cake in any glass container you like, a footed pedestal trifle bowl is traditional.
2. Drizzle liquour of choice over cake.
3.
Spread thin layer of jam.
4.
Cover with fruit.
5.
Layer of custard.
6.
Layer of whipped cream.
7.
Continue to layer as above until all ingredients are used.
8.
Best if refrigerated overnight to let flavors meld.
