Section: Bingo Buzz

There’s nothing like live bingo, but if you can’t make it to one of Westenr New York’s many bingo halls — as listed, of course, in Bingo Buzz! — there’s a new option. It’s called Bingo America, and it’s a new game show airing nightly on the Game Show Network (GSN).

Running from Monday through Friday at 7 and 11 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday at 4:30 p.m., the program is hosted by Patrick Duffy of Dallas fame, making his game show debut. He’s joined by professional dancer and actress Crystal Wallasch.

Network and cable television is filled with game shows, but what makes Bingo America especially exciting is its interactivity. Andrew Glassman, the executive producer, says it’s easy to participate in.

“This series is all about bringing GSN’s home audience a free, entertaining chance to win cash every night,” says Glassman. “It’s a simple three-step process: print your cards, play along with the show, and return to GSN.com/bingo if you get ‘bingo’ to claim your cash. It’s that easy.”

This makes the show stand out on the network’s lineup, says Jamie Roberts, the Game Show Network’s senior vice president, programming. “GSN is where people come to play,” says Roberts. “With Bingo America, they can play and win. It’s something completely new — something our audience can really get excited about.”

The series premiered on March 31, but prize money is scheduled to remain at the $50 mark through May 25, if not longer. At the beginning of its tenure, there were up to 10 sets of free downloadable game cards available to every player at www.GSN.com/bingo. That’s as many as 60 chances to win per an episode.

In addition to the regular cards, each includes a pair of “Bingo Bonus Numbers.” This gives the viewer the opportunity to cash-in during a bonus round at the close of every episode. Any home player whose bonus numbers match those that an on-air contestant picks from the bonus board will win $50, whether or not they’re the winning pair.

The Bingo America website features a bingo game guide, and a description of how to get in on the action at home.
