Remembering Jerry Flaschner
By Larry Levite
This summer, family, friends and colleagues were saddened by the passing of publisher Jerry Flaschner.
Founder of Living Prime Time, a magazine for baby boomers and the 60-plus community, Mr. Flaschner was a community leader and successful businessman for many years. Known as a positive personality, Flaschner brought an upbeat outlook to his many community involvements. He was involved with a diverse spectrum of organizations, including Shea’s Performing Arts Center, the Buffalo Broadcast Pioneers, the Salvation Army, Buffalo Philharmonic, Erie County Senior Services, Network in Aging, Erie Community College and the Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame. A forward-thinking person, Jerry was an inspiration to those who served the community.
The Jerrold Flaschner Memorial Scholarship has been created by the Erie Community College Foundation Board in honor of Jerry, who served as a member of the board of directors. He was a huge supporter of Erie Community College and regularly publicized programs and activities of the college through his Living Prime Time radio program. Donations to the Jerrold Flaschner Memorial Scholarship may be made to the ECC Foundation, Inc., 4196 Abbott Road, Orchard Park, NY 14127.
On a more personal note, we both shared a love for the world of camps for children. Jerry was a true gentleman and a genuinely nice man who earned the respect of all who knew him.
