The Band Plays On
July is a busy month for the American Legion Band of the Tonawandas, Post No. 264. The band plays at 8 p.m. on July 1 at Outwater Park in Lockport, followed by a performance at 7:30 p.m. on July 4 at Artpark in Lewiston. Both shows will end with fireworks. The band finishes its slate of July performances with a concert on July 10 at Bassett Park in Amherst, with a 7:30 p.m. start time.

On the Waterfront
Drums Along the Waterfront, a Western New York tradition for more than a decade, will fill the University at Buffalo football stadium in Amherst with music and movement on July 6. The Drum Corps International sanctioned event will feature seven of the world’s best drum and bugle corps, including six-time world champions Santa Clara Vanguard.

The Buffalo Book Fair
The Buffalo Committee will host the Buffalo Book Fair on July 7, an event celebrating reading, literacy and Buffalo’s history. The free festival will include book signings, interactive activities for kids, readings, panel discussions, seminars, and an opportunity to meet celebrity authors. Located at Lafayette Square in the heart of downtown Buffalo, the Book Fair has attracted over 4,000 people in the past two years.

Buffalo’s Favorite Taste
The Taste of Buffalo is an event that needs no introduction. After all, who doesn’t know about the annual weekend in July (7th and 8th this year), which sees food from restaurants far and wide and more than 400,000 attendees? But the event should not be taken for granted. Since its inception in 1984 the Taste of Buffalo has grown into America’s second largest food festival, and is now much more than just a place to chow down. There is music and entertainment, events for children, and more.

Twain Comes Alive
WKBW-TV Channel 7 personality Mike Randall has been bringing the great Mark Twain to life for audiences for more than 35 years, and in a stunning 2,000 performances. On July 21, Randall does his magic again, this time at the Fredonia Opera House. See why Twain was known as “America’s original stand-up comedian” as Randall, whose Twain makeup takes about three hours to apply, speaks the renowned wit’s own words and uses his mannerisms. It’s a fun, memorable way to experience history via one of the world’s greatest minds. Tickets are $15, and the show begins at 7:30 p.m.
