Club 99: A Few FAQs
By Richard Derwald

86-year-old fitness trainer Ann Constantino and Richard Derwald (Mr. Fitness) with the Club 99 exercise class at the North Buffalo Center on Sanders Road.
During the month of May, several Club 99 seminars were conducted including sessions at senior centers in Clarence, Lackawanna and Sloan. During each of these seminars many of the same questions were asked by those in attendance.

Q. What is the objective of Club 99?

A. To help all members of the senior community (age 60 and over) attain optimal well being by providing a unique array of services designed to enhance quality-of-life and maintain physical independence.

Q. What are some of the services being offered to members of Club 99 and what is the cost of these services?

A. In this age of inflation we are pleased to announce that all of the following services offered to members of Club 99 are absolutely, completely, 100-percent free. These services include:

• Group fitness classes where each participant receives a latex resistance exercise band along with a detailed printed instruction course and regular group exercise sessions conducted by a fitness trainer volunteer.

• Nutrition education classes are regularly offered at all Stay Fit dining sites, bringing Club 99 members the most current nutrition information. All nutrition education classes are presented by registered dietitians.

• Individual nutritional counseling with registered dietitians for those with special dietary needs such as those with diabetes or heart problems.

Q. What is the advantage for members who attend in the noon-day meal program being offered at sites throughout the county?

A. The guaranteed nutritional value of every meal served is that it contains a minimum of one-third of the recommended daily allowance (RDA). This is a guarantee you cannot find anywhere else and considering the suggested contribution of just $2.25, it is a super value for both your health and pocketbook. The minimum cost of serving the meal is at least twice that of your recommended contribution which means that you can save at least $2.25, a day, $11.25 weekly, $49.50 monthly and approximately $600 per year.

In this time of soaring gas and food prices you cannot ignore the financial advantages and health benefits offered by attending the STAY FIT noon-day meal program. For more information about Club 99 please call Richard Derwald at 858-6975.
