American Beauties
American Impressionism: Paintings from The Phillips Collection began at Rochester’s Memorial Art Gallery in April, and runs through June, but there’s still plenty of time in May to enjoy these impressionist masterpieces. The exhibition features 54 paintings, all universally acknowledged as treasured works of art.

Good Cheer, Wine and Cheese
Chautauqua’s annual Wine and Cheese Weekend will be held May 3–4, and it’s going to be a tasty treat. Each winery on the trail will make a special cheese dish to be sampled with their wine. Attendees choose their own itinerary and will receive a souvenir wine glass, recipe packet and a special gift.

The Lancaster Opera House takes you back to television’s golden days on May 8 with Oldies But Goodies, featuring songs and routines from classic TV favorites. This is a matinee performance, with a 2 p.m. start time, and tickets are $14.

Parkside Pleasures
The Parkside neighborhood near Delaware Park is one of the city of Buffalo’s most stately, and most beloved. That’s why the annual Parkside Tour of Homes is such an eagerly anticipated event. This year’s tour begins at 11:30 a.m. at the Church of the Good Shepherd, on the corner of Jewett Parkway and Summit Avenue.

Feast on the Music
Charles Haupt, retired concertmaster for the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, started A Musical Feast, a chamber music organization, in 2006. The finale for this, its second season, will feature bass-trombone virtuoso David Taylor, making his second Feast appearance.
