Saluting the Hustons

The Old Chestnut Film Society and Kenton Community Education have been saluting one of Hollywood’s royal families, the Hustons, since October. In April, it’s time for one of director John Huston’s classics, Moulin Rouge. Shown on an old-fashioned 16-mm projector, the screening offers the unique chance to view this dynamic film, featuring Jose Ferrer, at its best. Tickets are $5; the screening starts at 7:30 p.m.

Go Ape
April is a good time to rediscover the Buffalo Zoo, and the “Ape-ril” event will offer a chance to see the Zoo’s gorilla troop, featuring keeper talks, crafts, enrichment activities and games. Plus, recycling cell phones benefits gorillas in the Congo by decreasing the demand for coltan mining in the gorillas’ habitat, so each visitor who donates an old cell phone will receive $1 discount off regular Zoo admission per phone.
