Diamonds in the Sky
The Whitworth Ferguson Planetarium at Buffalo State’s winter season started in January, but continues through March 8. A currently ongoing program, “Diamonds of Winter,” offers a glimpse into the skies. The planetarium is also presenting “Skies of the South Seas,” set in the outback of New Zealand. Each show is $5 per person.

Tifft in Winter
The Tifft Winter Fest celebrates year two on March 2 with guided snowshoe hikes, arts and crafts, animal crafting workshops, and food and drink. The day, running from 25 p.m., is free to Tifft members, $5 for nonmember adults and $3 for children.

A Drowsy Good Time
The Drowsy Chaperone was an absolute smash on Broadway, and, in gob-smacking news for local theater fans, the show is making a quick debut on Buffalo stages: March 49 at Shea’s Performing Arts Center in Buffalo. The show received more Tony Awards than any other musical in 2006, and tells the inventive story of the power of theater to transport a viewer.

Lee’s Classic
Since Just Buffalo launched this year’s Big Read, Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird, at the Central Library on February 1, readings, screenings and discussions have been taking place across the county to celebrate this piece of literature. Be sure not to miss the last of these community-building events at the Lockport Library at 7:30 p.m. on March 11. Join in a spirited discussion of the classic and connect with fellow literature lovers.

Blades of Glory
Current and former Buffalo Sabres players will deal your hand at the third annual “Aces & Blades” event, from 711 p.m. on March 22 at the Adam;s Mark Hotel. The night will have casino gaming, delicious food and drinks as well as live and silent auctions featuring rare sports memorabilia. There should be a number of Buffalo Sabres in the house, as well; in fact, your dealers might look quite familiar.
